F-M St. Patrick’s Parade includes free movie this yearFARGO – Get out your green: The annual Fargo-Moorhead St. Patrick’s Day parade is coming, and this year there’s a free movie included.
The parade will begin at 3 p.m. March 13 at the Old Broadway in downtown Fargo and proceed north on Broadway to Sixth Avenue North.
Parade officials are expecting more than 80 entries. There’s no fee to march in the parade, and Irish heritage isn’t a requirement, according to a news release.
Last year, more than 5,000 spectators watched the parade as marchers handed out candy treats to children along the route, the release stated.
The Fargo Theatre will show a free “Irish” movie at noon before the parade. The film, a romantic musical titled “Once,” won an Academy Award in 2006.
Parade officials have extended an invitation to the rock band Bon Jovi to serve as the parade’s grand marshals. (No word yet on whether they’ll accept.) Bon Jovi will perform that night at the Fargodome.
