Weekend Watch: John Anderson
A true blue honky-tonk holdout, John Anderson never caught on like he should’ve. He came on the Nashville scene in the late 1970s when country was too polished for his more traditional approach. It’s a credit to the singer/songwriter that he never changed to fit in. Hits like “Money in the Bank,” “Swingin’ ” and “Straight Tequila Night” kept him on the radio even if he never crossed over to wider mainstream audiences. Anderson brings his honky-tonk to The Venue at The Hub, 2525 9th Ave. S., Fargo, on Friday night. The “Swingin’ ” starts at 8 p.m. with a $14 advance ticket or $19 at the door. (800) 511-1552.
