Tarantino leans on a Rosenquist piece

According to various reports circulating around the Internet, the iconic film director Quentin Tarantino nearly marred a $1 million James Rosenquist painting last week.

The mishap occurred when Tarantino was at a function hosted in the Upper East side home of gallerist Nathan Bernstein. The New York Post’s Page Six reported that Tarantino was talking to producer Harvey Weinstein when he leaned on Rosenquist’s “Shriek.” The Page Six report said guests were concerned Tarantino had ripped the painting. That didn’t happen and the director expressed regret for the incident.

Rosenquist, who is a native of Grand Forks, is regarded as one of the pop-art genre’s masters. He is in the midst of a finishing a $1.2 million mural for the Plains Art Museum in Fargo.
