New F-M chamber chief starts job

Craig Whitney, the new president and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of Fargo Moorhead, started his new position Monday.

Whitney plans to work the first week of February and then will return to Arizona, where he is moving from, said Adrienne Olson, chamber communications coordinator.

He will be back at his post full time Feb. 22, she said.

Whitney did not return a phone call seeking comment about his first day Monday.

Whitney was most recently chief of staff to the chairman at investment firm Cerberus Capital Management in Scottsdale, Ariz., where he spent the past 12 years.

His experience also includes working as an assistant to former Vice President Dan Quayle, vice president of public affairs for the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce in Arizona, and Atlanta Olympic Committee director of guest services and special events.

Whitney replaces David Martin, who announced in August that he would not renew his contract so he could spend more time with family.
