Neighbor helps woman allegedly being choked

A neighbor who heard screams for help came to the aid of a woman allegedly being choked by her boyfriend and knocked him off of her, Fargo police said.

Dispatchers received a call at 2:51 a.m. Wednesday about a disturbance in the 1500 block of 16½ Street South.

Sgt. Mark Lykken said the 32-year-old victim told police she was trying to sleep when her boyfriend came home and wanted attention from her. When she ignored him, he allegedly choked her.

She was able to get away and call 911, but the boyfriend grabbed the phone away from her, she told police.

The victim told police she escaped again, but the boyfriend caught her again when she tried to leave the apartment. He allegedly was choking her again when the neighbor intervened, Lykken said.

Christopher Scott Brown, 34, of Fargo was arrested on suspicion of aggravated domestic violence and interfering with a 911 call. He was taken to the Cass County Jail.

The victim didn’t require medical attention, Lykken said.
