UPDATE: Cass County Electric, Dakota Valley Electric working to restore power in some areasCrews with Cass County Electric Cooperative are working to restore power to customers west of North Dakota Highway 32, from southwest of Lisbon and north to Pillsbury.
About 335 households are without power, the cooperative reported this afternoon.
Frost is falling off of lines and causing them to bounce and make contact with each other, causing outages.
To report a power outage, contact (701) 356-4499 or (800) 248-3292.
Meanwhile, Dakota Valley Electric had about 150 customers in North Dakota without power.
Outages are mainly in the Ashley, Forbes and Kulm areas, with scattered outages recently popping up in the Edgeley, LaMoure and Oakes areas, stretching across to the Hankinson area in Richland County.
About a dozen poles are down but most outages are being caused by wire breaks, said spokeswoman Kathy Rysavy.
Crews from Northern Plains Electric Cooperative of Carrington are on their way to assist with repairs. All crews will be working to restore power to all accounts today and will continue working until all problems have been addressed.
Rysavy advises customers to prepare for more power outages if the weather deteriorates. She advises people to have generators filled with gas and to have extra food and water available.
The cooperative urges members to report any damaged electric lines or poles in their area by calling (800) 342-4671.
