Ashby teen killed in snowmobile crash

ASHBY, Minn. – A 16-year-old Ashby boy died Tuesday after the snowmobile he was driving ran into the side of a semi behind a fertilizer plant in Ashby, Grant County Sheriff Dwight Walvatne reported.

Justin Carl Woldahl was traveling east on the Central Lakes snowmobile trail in Ashby when he drove into the side of the semi, which was parked partially across the snowmobile trail, Walvatne reported.

The semi was unloading fertilizer at the plant. The crash was reported about 3:20 p.m. with a 911 call, Walvatne reported.

The Ashby Ambulance, Ashby Police Department and Sheriff’s Department all responded.

Woldahl was taken to Douglas County Hospital, Alexandria, where he died of his injuries.

Woldahl was a sophomore at Ashby High School.
