Area Salvation Army's Red Kettle campaign surpasses goal by almost $100,000
The organization’s goal this year was $650,000. The 2008 campaign raised what had been a record $657,270.
“An awesome task has been completed in this community,” Capt. Bill Mealy of the Salvation Army said at a Fargo news conference.
The success of this year’s campaign reflects the ef-forts of many people and the region’s generosity, said Doug Burgum of the Kilbourne Group, honor-ary 2009 Kettle chairman.
The campaign earns about 58 percent of the Salvation Army’s annual budget.
