Clay County flood maps can be reviewed onlineClay County residents who want to review proposed Federal Emergency Management Agency flood plain maps can find the maps on the county’s Web site.
To find the maps, go to www.co.clay.mn.us and click on the appropriate link.
When the maps are adopted by FEMA following a comment and appeals period, properties with federally backed mortgages that are deemed to be in the 100-year flood plain will be required to carry flood insurance.
The requirement does not extend to properties in the 500-year flood plain.
Proposed FEMA flood maps can also be viewed on the city of Moorhead Web site by going to www.cityofmoorhead.com and clicking on “the city” button on the upper left side of the screen.
From there, click on the “engineering” button under quick links. Maps of the 100-year and 500-year flood plains are available in pdf format.
