Body found after fire near Parkers Prairie

PARKERS PRAIRIE, Minn. – A body was discovered in a rural Otter Tail County home that burned to the ground on Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Officials haven’t released the name of the deceased and do not believe that foul play was involved, according to a news release from the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office.

The house, 18400 County Highway 42, is owned by Walter and Frances Paulson, tax records show, and the oldest section of it was built in 1900. It’s about three miles northeast of Parkers Prairie.

The fire was reported to the sheriff’s office at 4:13 a.m. by a person driving by the house. It was engulfed in flames by the time deputies responded, according to the news release.

Investigators from the sheriff’s office and the state fire marshal’s office have not determined the cause of the fire.
