UND, Gophers skate to men's hockey tieMINNEAPOLIS – Jacob Cepis scored with 3:04 left in regulation as the Minnesota Gophers rallied to tie fourth-ranked North Dakota 3-3 in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association game on Friday.
The Golden Gophers killed off a North Dakota power play in the final minute of overtime to come away with a second straight 3-3 tie between the two rivals.
Cepis’ goal came at 17:56 of the third period, 11 minutes after Brad Malone had given the Fighting Sioux a 3-2 lead.
Freshman Danny Kristo scored two goals for North Dakota (12-6-5, 8-6-3 WCHA).
Kristo gave the Sioux a 1-0 lead late in the first period. The Gophers (11-10-2, 6-7-2) answered on goals by Jordan Schroeder and Patrick White early in the second period.
Kristo tied it at 13:24 of the second and it stayed that way until Malone’s goal.
Alex Kangas made 30 saves for Minnesota. Brad Eidsness made 24 for North Dakota.
