Victim of attempted break-in arrestedA Moorhead man who reported someone trying to break in to his residence Monday was later arrested when he showed up with a knife at a neighboring apartment building, unaware that police were already there, Lt. Tory Jacobson said.
The attempted burglary was reported at 9:59 p.m. in the 1000 block of 19th Street South in Moorhead. The suspect busted in the door but was scared off by the caller’s roommate.
An investigation led police to the neighboring apartment, where the victim believed the suspect lived. While there, police came across a 17-year-old juvenile male with an unrelated warrant. Officers arrested the juvenile and also spotted evidence of narcotics in plain view, Sgt. Mike Detloff said.
As officers waited for a search warrant, the alleged victim from the earlier call entered the apartment wielding a knife with a 6-inch blade, Jacobson said. The man indicated he intended to threaten those he believed responsible for the burglary, he said.
Curtis Matthew Christensen, 22, was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct, conspiracy to commit second-degree assault and possession of a dangerous weapon.
The case remains under investigation.
