Roof collapses at Maplewood mall in St. Paul

ST. PAUL – Heavy snow is believed to have caused a roof collapse at Maplewood Mall in St. Paul.

Chad Capp, vice president of Shock Cellular, told KSTP-TV that a large piece of drywall dropped 25 feet on a kiosk Saturday morning. He believes it was due to heavy snow on the roof.

No one was injured, but he said if it had dropped a half-hour later, it would have landed on an employee.

No cell phones were damaged and the store opened for business Saturday.

Nine to 10 inches of snow fell in St. Paul from Wednesday through Friday, along with rain and slush Friday.
