Charges filed in Dilworth burglary case

Authorities filed charges on Friday against a Las Vegas man suspected in a burglary Thursday morning at the Dilworth VFW, while continuing to look for another suspect.

Brian William Paddack, 28, was charged in Clay County District Court with four felonies: theft, second-degree burglary, criminal damage to property and possession of burglary tools. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of fleeing a police officer.

After making an initial court appearance Friday, Paddack is being held in the Clay County Jail on bail of $25,000 cash or $100,000 bond. Court records stated that he has a lengthy criminal history in Nevada and pleaded guilty to a burglary charge there on Dec. 1.

Jogenia Franklin, a Dilworth 42-year-old accused of being the getaway driver in the burglary, is being held in the Clay County Jail on bail of $5,000 on a felony charge of fleeing a police officer.

Police are working on finding a third suspect they believe was in a car driven by Franklin, Dilworth Police Chief Dave Miller said.

Court records state that when Paddack was arrested after fleeing officers on foot, he was wearing a face mask and gloves and had numerous $20 bills – at least $180 worth – hanging from his pants pockets.

Police believe burglars attempted to steal an ATM inside the VFW. The machine was holding $8,200 before the incident and was left with $6,680 still inside it, court records state.
