Please consider all human rightsAfter reading about the group of women heading to Washington in the hopes of removing the abortion restriction on the health care bill, I felt compelled to write.
I consider myself a feminist. Like other women, I believe women are deserving of respect, I insist women be treated equal as human beings, and believe it is our responsibility to aid women when they require assistance. However, I believe that all human beings are deserving of the same rights. If we allow women’s rights at the expense of someone’s color, age, religion, or place of residence, then all human rights are in jeopardy.
As Americans, we deserve respect equally with those other residents of our globe, the value of a woman is equal to that of a man or a child, no matter how young or how old, and we have a responsibility to feed the starving both here and abroad. I appeal to those who are currently advocating for women’s rights in the form of abortion. I appeal to our senators and congressmen. If we do not speak up for our unborn children, who will speak up for us?
As Mother Teresa said, “How can we expect world peace while mothers kill their children?” All rights clearly begin here.
