Golf: Schultz tied for 54th at PGA qualifying schoolWEST PALM BEACH Fla. – Fargo’s Dave Schultz was tied for 54th place as play was suspended due to darkness Saturday at the PGA Tour qualifying tournament.
Schultz is at 2-under for the tournament, 13 shots behind leaders Troy Merritt and Jay Williamson.
Schultz is 1-over through 14 holes of the fourth round.
The fourth round started late after thunderstorms forced the suspension of third-round play Friday.
Brendan Pappas and Andrew McLardy were 14 under, and a group that included PGA Tour veteran Jeff Maggert, Billy Horschel and Graham Delaet were another stroke back. Matt Jones was among the only players to finish his fourth round, shooting a 5-under 67 to get to 11 under.
The top 25 finishers and ties after the six-round tournament will earn cards for 2010, with roughly 50 more earning fully exempt status for the Nationwide Tour.
Fourth-round play resumes today.
