Hilton Garden Inn opens in south Fargo
Hilton Garden Inn opened Nov. 18.
The mid-priced hotel is geared toward corporate travelers and offers amenities such as free high-speed Internet access, a 24-hour business center with free printing, faxing and copying, a fitness center, a pool, and an on-site restaurant and bar called The Great American Grill and Lounge that serves breakfast and dinner.
“The brand’s motto is ‘Everything right where you need it,’ so that’s very much how the building has been designed,” said Dan Hurder, Hilton Garden Inn Fargo general manager. “It’s meant to be able to give you as close to the comforts of home without actually being at home.”
The hotel plans to build a water park on the east side of the building. Groundbreaking will be sometime next year, Hurder said.
Chris Barton, former West Fargo Chamber of Commerce executive director and the hotel’s director of sales, said there is “definitely a need for more hotel rooms” in the Fargo-Moorhead area.
“If you take the Fargo Marathon, for example, or a Bon Jovi concert, all of the hotels will be full,” Barton said, adding that the area is also a destination place for conventions.
“Another venue for wedding receptions is a key plus in this area,” she said.
The convention center in the hotel has been open since Oct. 17, when it hosted its first wedding reception.
The convention center has 20,000 square feet of meeting space, which includes seven meeting rooms and a 14-person boardroom. It can accommodate two wedding receptions in one night, Barton said.
“There’s a lot of enthusiasm right now in the community” for the hotel, she said.
Cole Carley, executive director of the Fargo-Moorhead Convention and Visitors Bureau, said there have been times in the past year when they have had to turn down some meetings because there wasn’t enough room.
“We welcome them to the market,” Carley said. “We think it’s a beautiful property, and we think they’ll do pretty well.”
Hilton Garden Inn Fargo employs 60 people.
The hotel participates in the Hilton HHonors rewards program, through which guests earn airline miles and hotel points for free lodging and complementary bottles of water and breakfast upgrades.
