Hanson begins duties as interim head of NDSUFARGO — The interim president of North Dakota State University has begun his duties.
Richard Hanson took over today for Joseph Chapman, who stepped down after criticism of his spending. Hanson said all transitions are difficult, but his goal is to be open and gain the trust of the people.
His first order of business as the interim head of NDSU was meeting with his Cabinet.
Hanson is a native of Hillsboro, an NDSU alumnus, a former Bison football star and a former associate vice president for academic affairs at NDSU in the early 1990s. He comes from Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa, where he was the president.
