Fill the Dome project wraps up today, donations still needed to reach goalsFARGO – This is a big and important day for our community, the needy and young people who have organized the Fill the Dome project.
WDAY Radio News says today is when organizers will announce how much food and funds they’ve raised.
Organizers hoped to collect 75 tons of food, $75,000 and 7,500 signatures for hunger awareness.
The radio station says the last update showed students were about 20 tons short of the food goal.
Greg Tehven, an advisor to the student ambassadors who have taken on the Fill the Dome project, says he is optimistic students will reach their goal.
Nearly every school in the Fargo-Moorhead and the surrounding area is participating in the fundraising effort.
However, Tehven says the public can drop off food or cash donations today at the Fargodome.
A news conference is planned at 4 p.m. to announce the results.
In the previous two years, students raised more than $60,000 and 100 tons of food.
