Greg Voss named exec director for Minn-Kota Red Cross chapter

Greg Voss has been named regional executive director of the Minn-Kota Chapter of the American Red Cross.

He said he will begin his duties Dec. 14.

Voss, a Red Cross volunteer for many years, has a long history as the director of YMCAs in Wisconsin, Michigan and Minnesota.

Currently he serves as executive director of the Andover (Minn.) YMCA Community Center. Andover is a Minneapolis suburb.

Voss said the “the passionate (Red Cross) volunteers I’ve work with over time” encouraged him to seek the Minn-Kota post.

Voss also said the new position will allow him to impact a large number of people over a wide area.

David Miller, chairman of the Minn-Kota board, said in a statement that Voss “will be an asset to an already strong team.”

Voss replaces Sherri Thomsen, who resigned as regional executive director of the Minn-Kota Chapter this summer, citing a desire to spend more time with her family.

The Minn-Kota Chapter has offices in Fargo, East Grand Forks, Minn., and Fergus Falls, Minn.

Its service area includes 27 counties in North Dakota and Minnesota.

The Minn-Kota Chapter also has regional oversight of chapters in the North Dakota cities of Bismarck, Dickinson, Jamestown and Minot.
