MSUM student caught in women’s locker room

Police say a Minnesota State University Moorhead student was jailed after he was caught showering in the women’s locker room in Nemzek Field House Wednesday night.

Obinna Umejesi, 18, was wearing only boxer shorts when he was confronted by women in the locker room, Lt. Tory Jacobson said.

The women told police Umejesi bolted from the locker room; Umejesi told police he walked out, Jacobson said.

Campus security located Umejesi about 10:35 p.m. and contacted Moorhead police. He was arrested on suspicion of interference with privacy and disorderly conduct, Jacobson said.

A similar incident had taken place Tuesday, but the responsible person wasn’t caught, he said.

Jacobson said Umejesi told police he was going to go swimming after he showered and that he thought the locker room was for use by both men and women. Umejesi had no swimwear with him, Jacobson noted.

Jacobson said Umejesi claimed his on-campus dorm room didn’t have a shower, which isn’t true.
