Weekend Watch: ‘Godspell’ and ‘Great Moments from Opera’
Fargo and Moorhead college campuses will be singing this weekend with a pair of musical productions. Concordia College kicks off the weekend tonight in the Frances Frazier Comstock Theatre with the early 1970s Bible belter, “Godspell,” in which gospel readings are delivered to a rock soundtrack. The play runs at 8 nightly through Saturday with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday and again next weekend. Tickets are $7 for adults, $3 for seniors and students and $3 for everyone during matinees. (218) 299-3314.
North Dakota State University also goes back to the basics for Friday’s “Great Moments in Opera” at Beckwith Recital Hall. Students re-create famous scenes from classics such as Mozart’s “Cosi fan Tutte,” Verdi’s “La Traviata” and Puccini’s “La Bohéme,” which just received the full treatment from the Fargo-Moorhead opera. This free production starts at 7:30 p.m. (701) 231-9564.
