Mathern to join federal energy policy group

North Dakota state Sen. Tim Mathern travels to Washington, D.C., today to meet with state leaders working with the White House to advance federal energy legislation in Congress.

Mathern, a Democrat, was selected to the national group earlier this year to tackle energy policy issues. The group will help inform the debate on the American Clean Energy and Security Act (HR 2454), which supporters say would create jobs and reduce America’s reliance on foreign oil.

Mathern will participate in the working group along with 40 other state legislators from across the nation.
