Why not just give ’em money?Reading The Forum it appears President Barack Obama and many of our congressmen want to give Social Security recipients a $250 bonus since we will have no increase in Social Security this year.
Since it’s clear the government doesn’t have the $13 billion it will cost, why not give each senior $1,000? If we don’t have $13 billion, it should be even easier to spend $52 billion we don’t have. Let our young people pay for it later.
However, I have an even better idea. Give each senior $10,000 but make it taxable. By the time we pay the 28 percent back in taxes the Congressional Budget Office and Congress may actually have the government coming out ahead.
