Moorhead snowbirds critical to US censusMoorhead Mayor Mark Voxland is encouraging Moorhead retirees who head south for the winter to be counted as Minnesota residents during the 2010 census.
Census forms will be mailed in mid-March, when most retirees will not yet have returned to Minnesota. Moorhead residents should not fill out the form in the state they are visiting, and instead should ask for a form when they return to Moorhead.
According to federal government resources, each resident who fills out a census form is responsible for bringing as much as $14,000 back to the state over 10 years.
Up-to-date census information will be available at www.cityofmoorhead.com.
