Peace activists protest wars in Iraq, AfghanistanMINNEAPOLIS – Peace activists in Minnesota are speaking out against the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Protesters gathered Saturday at Hennepin and Lagoon avenues in the Uptown neighborhood of Minneapolis and then marched to Loring Park in downtown Minneapolis for a rally.
The rally coincided with more than 40 other peace actions nationwide.
The protests call for an end to the war in Afghanistan – while the Obama administration is considering a plan to send additional U.S. troops there. The protests will also call for an end to the U.S. occupation in Iraq.
Other cities planning anti-war events Saturday included Boston, Cleveland and San Francisco.
