Traill County says drug dog out of workHILLSBORO, N.D. — Sam, Traill County’s drug dog, is now off duty.
Traill County Sheriff Mike Crocker said there isn’t enough work to justify the expense of keeping a K9 unit. Sam started his duties five years ago when the “drug problem and meth scene were exploding,” Crocker said. But he has seen little action since.
Crocker financed the K9 Unit through contributions from schools and cities. He said the county has access to a drug dog from the North Dakota Highway Patrol, “so we’re not out in the cold.”
