Ex-South standout 20th in World Half Marathon raceBIRMINGHAM, England – Fargo South graduate Andrew Carlson took 20th place in the 18th annual IAAF World Half Marathon Championships on Sunday.
Carlson, who lives in Flagstaff, Ariz., ran the course in 1 hour, 2 minutes, 50 seconds.
Zersenay Tadese of Eritrea won the race for his fourth world title in 59 minutes, 35 seconds.
A four-time all-state honoree and state cross country champion at South, Carlson was a two-time cross country All-American and the 2002 and 2004 Midwest Region Cross Country champion. He also received All-America honors in the 10,000 meters at the NCAA Championships when he attended the University of Minnesota.
