Police seeking help in West Acres fraud cases

Fargo police are asking for help identifying a suspect in a rash of fake credit cards and travelers checks used Tuesday at the West Acres Regional Shopping Center.

At least four businesses were scammed by the fake payments, with a charge of $12,000 on a single card in one case and about $15,000 in total losses found so far, said Sgt. Ross Renner.

Renner said those who pass off fraudulent cards and checks often operate as a group and travel frequently, hitting an area quickly before moving on.

“Nine times out of 10, we don’t get anything. They’re just gone,” he said.

Police have released a photo of a female suspect taken from a security video in hopes that someone in the area had contact with her. Anyone with information about the suspect is urged to call Fargo police at (701) 241-1405.
