I-94 / 9th Street interchange to open Thursday in West FargoWEST FARGO - The Interstate 94 interchange at Ninth Street East in West Fargo is scheduled to open to the public at noon Thursday, North Dakota transportation officials said today.
West Fargo and Fargo city officials will ceremonially open the on- and off-ramps of the interchange during a ribbon-cutting at 11 a.m. Thursday, said Bob Walton, district engineer for the state Department of Transportation.
Walton said construction crews are wrapping up work on the ramps this week and putting all the signs in place, which would allow the ramps to open Thursday.
“It’s our goal to have it open by noon,” Walton said this afternoon.
All four lanes of I-94 also will re-open as construction crews finish, he said.
The speed limit through that stretch of I-94 will be permanently lowered to 55 miles per hour, beginning just east of the Sheyenne Street exit heading toward Fargo, Walton said.
The I-94 overpass portion of the Ninth Street East interchange opened in mid-August, while crews completed the on- and off-ramps this month.
