Grant awarded to fight violence against women

WASHINGTON – U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder announced Friday that $455,263 in Recovery Act funds has been awarded to the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians of North Dakota by the Office on Violence Against Women Recovery Act Transitional Housing Program.

The funds will be used to hire three shelter aides for the Hearts of Hope Domestic Violence Shelter.

The project will also create and implement a protection order database to ensure the safety of victims and employ a domestic violence/data entry clerk to assist with client intake data.
