Teen wearing headphones killed by train in Buffalo, Minn.

BUFFALO, Minn. - A 16-year-old girl wearing headphones and listening to a music player on her phone was hit and killed by a train while walking on railroad tracks in Buffalo.

Tyler Wood was killed Thursday, and authorities say she might not have heard the approaching freight train.

Buffalo Police Chief Mitchell Weinzetl says the girl likely was wearing headphone buds designed to block out other sounds. Weinzetl says the train conductor said the girl made no attempt to leave the tracks.

The conductor tried to stop and sounded the train's horn and siren, which Weinzetl said were heard by people in the area.

Authorities will review the train's ``black box' video recorder in their investigation.

Buffalo is located about 38 miles northwest of Minneapolis.
