Weekend sports watchPrep football: Fargo South at Bismarck
Friday, 7 p.m., Bismarck Community Bowl
This game should be well worth the 195-mile drive down I-94. The meeting is a matchup of last year’s North Dakota Class 3A state title game and a meeting of the two top-ranked teams in the state. The Demons are ranked No. 1 and South No. 2. Bismarck knocked off the Bruins 28-19 last year to end South’s two-year reign as state champs.

Prep football: Perham at Thief River Falls
Friday, 7 p.m., Thief River Falls, Minn.
It’s just the second week of the season, but this is as good a matchup Class 3A, Section 8 – and the Heart O’Lakes Conference – is going to have this season. Perham beat TRF 30-20 in the Section championship last year, and both teams have plenty of firepower left. The Yellowjackets beat Pelican Rapids 32-0 in last week’s season opener, and The Prowlers dumped Crookston 19-3.

College volleyball: Oral Roberts at NDSU
Friday, 7 p.m., Bentson-Bunker Fieldhouse
There will be a fresh, new look to the Bentson-Bunker Fieldhouse when the Bison begin defense of their Summit League championship. Fans can watch in style in the new chair-back bleachers. And they can watch a Bison team which went through last year’s Summit League season 16-0 and has posted an impressive 4-2 record so far this year – its only losses to high-major Division I opponents Florida State and Miami (Fla.).

College football: Concordia at Valley City State
Saturday, 1:30 p.m., Valley City, N.D.
Concordia is coming off a solid 24-17 home victory against No. 8-ranked Willamette (Ore.) last Saturday.
The Vikings took last weekend off after dropping a
16-6 decision at Minnesota State Moorhead in their opener.
