Impasse declared in West Fargo teacher contract talksWEST FARGO - West Fargo teachers and district officials declared impasse in teacher contract negotiations tonight.
It was the end result of a two-hour discussion and four months of negotiation meetings.
"It's disappointing anytime you get to this point," Dan Wolf, lead negotiator for the West Fargo Education Association, said after tonight’s meeting. "To have it come to this point and come as far as it has and fall apart is disappointing."
The disagreement basically came down to teacher compensation and whether the district has room in its budget for higher than proposed teacher raises.
School Board President Tom Gentzkow agreed it was a disappointing conclusion to negotiations.
"It’s disheartening when it goes to impasse," he said. He said he felt let down.
