Standing Rock election manager says she was firedBISMARCK, N.D. - The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe's election manager said she has been fired after 25 years on the job.
Dellis Agard said she plans to appeal the termination to the tribe's human resources administrative review board.
She said she can't discuss the reasons behind her firing but said it stems from the July primary election.
A recount put Vice Chairwoman Avis Little Eagle out of the race for tribal chairman when current chairman Ron His Horse Is Thunder maintained a one-vote lead after ballots were counted a second time.
He will run against former chairman Charles Murphy in a runoff election Sept. 30.
Little Eagle asked for another chance to be placed on the ballot but a judge denied it.
The reservation straddles the North Dakota-South Dakota border.
