RedHawks' Rundown: RailCats Clinch No. 1 overall playoff spot with win

With the 6-3 win the Gary SouthShore Railcats clinch the Northern League’s regular season title and will enter the NL Playoffs with the No. 1 overall seed playing No. 4 seeded Kansas City.

The RedHawks got off to a hot start on Sunday plating two runs off Gary starter Grant Johnson, but the RailCats responded by scoring six runs in the bottom of the inning.

Zach Penprase paced the RedHawks on offense going 2-for-5 with a triple and two RBIs.

Mike Coles was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

The RailCats (57-38) have won four games in a row and will finish with the Northern League’s best regular season record for the second time in the last three years.

The RedHawks out hit the Rail Cats 10-8.
