Holiday campsites still available at Minnesota parksST. PAUL (AP) - The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources says plenty of campsites are still available at state parks for the Labor Day weekend.
About 30 percent of the reservable campsites not yet spoken for, and another 25 percent to 30 percent of campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The DNR advises anyone wishing to camp over the holiday weekend to reserve a site as soon as possible by calling 866-85PARKS or 866-857-2757 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily, or by visiting http://www.stayatmnparks.com.
Those without reservations will have better chances if they arrive at a state park by Thursday morning. Additional campsites open up on Sunday as weekend visitors begin to head home.
