Motorcyclist killed in Becker County after crash Saturday morning

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – A 53-year-old rural Detroit Lakes man was killed Saturday after the motorcycle he was riding left the road.

The man was riding eastbound on Highway 54, about three miles east of Detroit Lakes, when the motorcycle left the road. The man, who has not been identified by authorities, was thrown from the motorcycle.

The man was not wearing a helmet.

Rescue crews were called to the accident at 7:17 a.m. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release by the Becker County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office is withholding the name of the driver pending notification of relatives.
