Twins acquire right-handed reliever Rauch from ArizonaMINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Twins have acquired right-hander Jon Rauch from the Arizona Diamondbacks to fill another hole in their bullpen.
The Twins agreed to send the Diamondbacks a player to be identified later in the deal completed today.
The 30-year-old Rauch went 2-2 with a 4.14 ERA in 54-plus innings for Arizona. The 6-foot-11 Rauch walked 17 and struck out 35 in 58 games for the Diamondbacks this year.
Rauch's 305 appearances since the start of 2006 are the most in the majors. His career ERA is 3.87, beginning in 2002 with the Chicago White Sox.
Right-hander Philip Humber was sent to Triple-A Rochester to make room on the roster. Beyond All-Star closer Joe Nathan, Matt Guerrier and Jose Mijares, the Twins have struggled to find reliable relievers.
