Sen. Conrad calls Kennedy 'Lion of the Senate'; Dorgan says America has lost 'remarkable public servant'

BISMARCK - North Dakota officials remember Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., who died Tuesday of brain cancer, as a friend and colleague who dedicated his life to his country.

Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., says, ``America has lost a remarkable public servant.'

Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., called Kennedy ``the Lion of the Senate' who fought for what he believed was right and who was there for colleagues facing struggles or tragedy. Conrad said Kennedy was ``often the first to call and was always ready to reach out to help someone in trouble.'
