North Dakota art groups receive over $300K in fundingTwelve North Dakota arts and cultural organizations will each receive a portion of the $290,000 in funding to preserve jobs in the arts through the North Dakota Council on the Arts and one organization will receive $16,000 in funding through Arts Midwest for the NDCA Job Preservation grant program.
Funds from this grant program will help to preserve jobs threatened by declines in philanthropic and other support during the current economic downturn.
Twenty-two salaried positions and several contracted artist positions will be retained through this program.
Funds for the program were provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 through the National Endowment for the Arts. Area organizations receiving funding include:
Grand Forks – Artwise, $16,000 (Arts Midwest funded); Greater Grand Forks Community Theatre, $30,000; Greater Grand Forks Symphony, $30,000.
Fargo – FM Opera, $30,000; FM Symphony Orchestra, $12,176; Jazz Arts, $29,063.
The North Dakota Museum of Art, Grand Forks, and the Plains Art Museum, Fargo, each received $50,000 in direct funding through grants from the National Endowment for the Arts.
