Rain postpones Saturday’s Knoxville NationalsKNOXVILLE, Iowa – The final two races of the Knoxville Nationals were postponed Saturday night because of heavy rain.
The feature race, regarded as the biggest race of the sprint car season, will be run tonight.
Officials got in three of the five scheduled races, but downpours hit central Iowa just before the second-to-last race of the night. With more rain set to hit the area, organizers called the night’s events just before 11 p.m.
Three-time defending champion Donny Schatz of Fargo is among the favorites for today’s race. Stevie Smith will be on the pole, with Joey Saldana set to run second.
