Proud to work for Fargo policeI would like to address the comments/letters made about my department from former Fargo police officers Chet Decker and Todd Aannerud. When Decker and Aannerud left the Fargo Police Department, it was their choice to leave rather than to work on a solution to their perceived problems.
The Fargo department is not a perfect place to work. The chief and his administration do strive for responsibility and accountability from their officers. I have worked in several jobs in the private sector and can say that, by far, the Fargo Police Department is the best job I have ever had. I have been with the department for almost nine years and have had the opportunity to work in patrol, bike, SWAT, training officer, peer crisis team, investigations and canine.
I have been to training and conferences around the country and have been able to talk to officers from departments as large as 1,000-plus to smaller than 10 officers. Not one officer has said their department is perfect. They all have their issues. Once we start comparing work environment, wages, benefits, way of life, etc., I am proud to work for the Fargo Police Department.
