Happy Hooligans return from historic mission in southwest AsiaFARGO - Members of the North Dakota Air National Guard's 119th Wing are returning home from a historic mission in southwest Asia.
Col. Kent Olson says 40 airmen are returning from a mission in which two Happy Hooligans C-21A Lear jets were deployed for the first time into a theater of war.
One jet was to return Tuesday and the second in late September. The airman were returning in different groups throughout the week.
The Guard says the deployment of the jets also was unique because it was the first time in the history of the Air Force's U.S. Central Command that military Lear jets were maintained by airmen and not civilian contractors.
