Funding secured for I-29 projectWASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Byron Dorgan announced Wednesday that $1 million in funding has been awarded to reconstruct a 5.3-mile segment of Interstate 29 from north Fargo to the Sheyenne River.
As a member of the Senate Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Subcommittee, Dorgan helped write the bill that included the funding.
This portion of I-29 is in need of repair due to a high volume of freight traffic to and from Canada.
In addition to the I-29 funding, Dorgan secured $1.5 million for public transit needs in Fargo, Grand Forks and Minot. Fargo will use its share to maintain and expand its transit system, including purchasing buses and fare boxes, and installing more bus shelters.
