Moorhead police, parks start new youth programThe Moorhead Police Department and the Moorhead Parks Department are kicking off a summer program for youth ages 5 to 17 Monday.
The free six-week program, United for Romkey Youth, is a partnership between the two agencies and:
- University of Minnesota Extension, 4-H and Nutrition Education
- Metro Youth Partnership
- Clay County Sheriff’s Office
- Boys & Girls Club of the Red River Valley
- Centro Cultural
- United Methodist Church
- Believer’s Fellowship Church
The program is open to all Moorhead youth. It will take place Monday through Friday from 4 to 6 pm, at Centro Cultural, 1014 19th St. S. in Moorhead.
“It’s something for kids to do other than get in trouble,” said Sgt. Mike Detloff.
The Moorhead Police Department will be presenting every Friday. The department and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office have provided funding for the rent of the facility.
