Is writer an idiot? Fairs expensive

I have two comments on a couple of opinions in the Sunday (July 19) Forum. John Henry Johnson called all Minnesotans idiots.

If I am not mistaken, he is from Detroit Lakes. Now, the last time I looked, that was in Minnesota. So has he recently moved out of Minnesota, or is he also categorizing himself as an idiot from Minnesota?

The other opinion was high prices at the Red River Valley Fair. I don’t understand either why it has to cost so much to get into the fair. Is it to pay for advertising and land rent (don’t know who owns the land)? Once you get in, you have to pay for everything unless you just go to see the livestock and other free displays like championship flowers. Granted, everyone giving a service needs to make money, but why so much at the expense of the supporting public?

Let’s also include the Fargo Downtown Street Fair in this overpriced extravaganza. My sister and her daughter-in-law attended the street fair. She ordered two gyros and two smoothies. I mean, how much can two lunches cost in downtown Fargo? It cost her $36. Now is that a high-priced lunch for two or what? It’s too bad that there is so much overpricing going on, but I guess people have to make a living, eh?
