Forum flood book, CD really capture spirit of the fightCongratulations to those who produced the 2009 flood book “Will Over Water.” I knew it would be spectacular because of previous work by The Forum and other newspaper writers and photographers in the Red River Valley. I have not been able to put the book down since it landed in our mailbox today. The speed in which the book came off the presses so soon after the flood fight is another miracle.
How did you do that?
A bonus is the CD that came with the book.
Thank you so much for the large photographs, the oversized book, the faces that tell the story, the words that explain the pain and agony so many experienced. At our age the best we can do is thank and congratulate everyone for their heroism and The Forum for capturing the images.
Tossing sandbags is past our time, but thank you all for what you did to protect so many towns and homes.
To those not so lucky, we are so sorry. Having experienced Minot’s 1969 flood, by inviting two families into our home for three months when they lost their homes, I can honestly say I know somewhat about what you went through. As reporters covering a story for The Minot (N.D.) Daily News, a number of us took a ride in a Coast Guard boat, ducking as we floated under the Minot underpass in 1969.
The solution in Minot to prevent flooding was to straighten the mighty Mouse River, or as its official title, the “Souris River.”
