Minnesota DNR looking for some fishy artworkST. PAUL – This from the made-in-Minnesota file: the state Department of Natural Resources is looking to reel in designs for its annual Trout and Salmon Stamp contest.
Entries will be accepted for the 2010 stamp from today until the end of July. The angler art program is open to any Minnesota resident.
Eligible species are brook, brown, rainbow, splake and lake trout, coho, pink and Atlantic salmon.
The stamps serve two purposes. They are required for anglers fishing in designated trout streams and lakes, or when they’re in possession of a trout or salmon. They are sold in conjunction with regular fishing licenses.
Some people also buy them for collectible reasons.
Judging of entries will take place Aug. 6.
