Lots of questions about MeritCare, Sanford merger

The long-term raison d’être of the proposed merger of MeritCare and Sanford Health must be exceptional results. At issue:

What will be the lasting results – secured with integrity – of the proposed merger?

What will be the shared purpose or mission of the merged organization? Why will it exist?

Will the merged organization catalyze “great leadership”: A dynamic interaction of aligned, engaged, committed collaborators and followers as opposed to a single great leader?

What will be the inspiring, compelling, achievable shared vision of the proposed organization?

Who are the “leadership trustees” in the community who will zealously protect this shared vision and shared future of the merged organization?

What are the shared values of the proposed organization that will drive how lasting results will be achieved? As Ken Blanchard notes, “In a company that manages by its values, there is only one boss – the values.”
